THIS IS HAWKWIND DO NOT PANIC/STONEHENGE (1984)

When the"semi-live" almost works, it follows that a "wholly-live" will put it over the top, no?

Amazingly enough, this logic holds true, and the resulting LP/EP twofer once again affirms the potency of Hawkwind live -- the BLANGA's back, boys and girls, with enough new-ish material to avoid the overly pointless feel that so many of the eighties and nineties live albums have.

Of course, with good BLANGA it also follows that this was yet another period of rapid transition with various drummers (including Andy Anderson of the Cure, briefly) and keyboardists (including Inner City Unit's guiding genius Dead Fred and, ultimately, Bainbridge on a full time basis) contributing, and Turner departing by the year's end.

BLANGA SCORE: 7.
