T-Rex formerly Tyranosaurus Rex have their first hit. Formerly of "Johns Children" Marc Bolan IS T-Rex, he's accompanied by bongo player (not posh enough to be a "percussionist"!) "Steve "Peregrine" Took" (replaced later by Mickey Finn and a rhythm section. This unassuming record marked his change from accoustic whimsey (Witness Tyranosaurus Rex album title: "My people were fair and had sky in their hair but now they're content to wear stars on their brows") to a more basic rock'n'roll approach.. nothing unusual in that, after all Dylan did the same a few years previously.. But.. and here's the difference, Dylan wasn't a sexual time bomb... ..and Bolan was. |
