Columbus to Bowling Green
| This roadtripping lark is addictive. A cheap flight coupled to a couple of weeks with no work, then RK talking about her imminent trip down south was enough to get me in the US for the 4th time this year.. aw.. it's ok, savings aren't important when put against selfish holiday type enjoyment...
So, this time we planned to go from Columbus to New Orleans via all sorts of roadside goodies.. unfortunately RK had to work half of today and we didn't leave home (read "Taco Bell") until 1pm, the result of this is that we drove past the Coca Cola bottling plant, The worlds longest go-kart track and a couple of other 9-5 weekday only attractions without being able to go in.
The only stop we did make was at some factory outlets so I could get some new sunglasses having left mine at home.. naturally I landed up with some cheap nikes and a pile of black T shirts too.. |

Today's destination was the Wigwam Village at Cave City so we could wake up tomorrow ready for Mammoth cave, but RK called and they were fully booked, drat... plan "b" was evolved on the fly, we wanted to go to the Corvette factory tour, but once again, that's not open on weekends, but the Corvette museum is, so we're in the Bowling Green Best Western opposite the museum ready for an early start..
On booking into the hotel the old English accent had its usual effect on the hapless receptionists.. which is quite embarrassing because they seem to think I sound like Hugh Grant or something but we all know I sound like North East London via the comprehensive education system...
So, sorry this installment is dull as dishwater, but the fun starts tomorrow with 2 hours in the thrall of Corvette, then to Mammoth cave, then off to Memphis and dinner at Corkies Barbecue..
Yours, in the land of grits and moon pies.. (Like a tripple decker wagon wheel, with no chocolate and too dry..)
