The flight to Vegas takes 10 hours.. not a lot to report really, I was sat next to a couple from Stevenage who are getting married tomorrow at an Elvis Wedding chapel, we got on pretty well, they invited me to be a witness to their wedding, but travel pal RK & I had planned to leave Vegas as soon as I arrived..
There was one small incident on the plane when they ran out of the most popular food choice (beef), by the time they got to our row all that was left was Chicken Korma, not my choice at the best of times but on an aeroplane? no thanks.. anyway, I declined all food.. then the stewardess tried to give me a tray with just the bap & desert, I said no thanks again, then the head stewardess came & said she wanted me to eat, I said I was ok etc etc... all very polite, then she said she'd get me something from "The other compartment".. 20 minutes later & she returned with a proper china plate containing a Fillet Mignon in red wine sauce, onion potatoes & carrots.. mm rather tasty it was too.. the rest of my row looked on green with envy as I tucked in.. .. I may have been pushing my luck whilst handing back the empty plate.. "That was scrumptious, any chance of another one?" to the stewardess... can't blame a boy for trying can you..
So I met RK at the airport at about 4pm.. we added me to the Canyonero hire car (An off roader with the handling characteristics of a small fishing trawler..) and headed off into Death Valley which is about 3 hours away from Vegas.
Into Death Valley..
Death Valley is where you find me now.. it's 11pm, we've had a swim in the pool, had a scrummy dinner, (scrummy.. expensive.. dinner..) and the temperature has just dropped bellow 100 degrees.. I forgot just how alien this atmosphere is, the wind is up outside & it dries your eyes & lips out in about 30 seconds.. a very strange experience.. oh, but you can see ever star in the sky just like you was floating around the planet in some kind of super hi tech space thing <tm>
I'm shattered.. I've been up for over 36 hours now, so forgive the monotonous nature of this trip report, things will perk up as we get power touristing..
