| PUNKADELIC
1982 FLICKNIFE SHARP 103 |
Not a proper album, but a compilation of bits and pieces, demos etc.. the versions of Space Invaders and Polyethlene are from a session
ICU did for Polydor records which actually yielded the offer of a recording
contract.. ..no "actual money" though..
All the tracks on this album are previously unreleased versions
of ICU standards.. except the disco trilogy which was a project of Fred
and Trevs from the late 70's.. "Disco Tango" why wasn't that song entered
into the Eurovision Song Contest? |

| MAXIMUM EFFECT
1981 AVATAR ALP 5004 |
The second ICU album saw a change of line-up.. no full time bass player meant a swap from keys to bass for Dead Fred, Mick Stupp had gone (for now) to be replaced by Dino Ferrari, a slick production takes the
edge from perhaps the finest bunch of ICU songs on record.. "Bones Of Elvis"
recorded by -anyone- but the desperately un-hip ICU would be a cult classic
by now... |

| NEWANATOMY
1985 Demi Monde DM001 |
Recorded in Wales by Nik, Fred and Steve Newanatomy is probably the worst record ever made.. BUT it did give the boys enough impetus to get Mick Stupp back into the fold for some live shows.. and the start of ICU Mk-2 An honorable mention must go out to "Birdland" a gem of a song By the time the record was re-pressed ICU had sacked and fallen out with Dave Anderson, if your album has a contact address for an address in wales on the reverse then you have the first print.. all subsequent editions had that line removed. |

| THE PRESIDENTS TAPES
1985 FLICKNIFE SHARP 031 |
After a year on the road ICU Mk2 went into the studio to make another album, the bassplayer on tour had been "Sprog Turnip" ..one day into the sessions for this album and it became obvious the boy couldn't play in time to save his life.. he was given 20 quid and told to fuck off.. Fred & Steve shared the bass playing.. this isn't a bad album, but it is an aquired taste, it is covered in samples (well.. not actually samples.. sound effects Fred recorded on a cheap cassette recorder.. but still 10 years before their time..) It's ICU's heaviest recording. |

| ERSATZ By: The Imperial Pompadours
1982 POMPADOUR POMP001 |
This album was the idea of Graphic Designer Barney Bubbles, (You know him from the classic early Hawkwind sleeves or his work with Elvis Costello and F-Beat records). He chose all of the cover versions on side one and after recording the originals onto a cheap cassette recorder he took them to the band, here`s the catch: he only let them hear the songs -once- ...cue various members scribbling down chords/lyrics/etc.. then the band had to re-assemble the songs from these scraps of information... this expalins why this is the -wierdest- damn album you`ll ever hear... "Insolence Across The Nation" is the story of one Mr Hitler it`s basically acted readings from his book "Mein Kampf" set to the music of Wagner.. "Its heavy man.." |
